Star Child

Children can see the world truth by truth
as each star crosses the sky
and they never question
where they started and where
they will go

As each child grow they’ll find themselves
looking again
and deciding whether a star is
good or bad
and what he should do to it
where he will guide it in life

The stars never move
and never listen
To each prayer the child makes
Each word bounces as an echo
from the lungs to the seas
to salt upon the body

The stars never move
only the rock upon which the child stands
spins as thoughts each human has
to its importance in the sky
But the burning fuel will come
one day
melt the glass and have it
spill, half empty onto
the dirt to wet the graves.
