She woke up realizing her fingers were still laced with his, neither of them having moved enough in their sleep to disturb it. She smiled, and pulled herself towards him so she could rest her head on his chest. She could hear his heart beat, slow and steady against her cheek. He sighed loudly, and looked around disoriented for a moment. His eyes softened when he saw her, his irises so dark that it was hard to discern where his pupils ended and irises began. He kissed the top of her head and settled back onto the pillow. She knew he was falling back asleep because he started to rub his feet back and forth; a habit that took her a while to get used to.
