1.3.14 Plain Life

Like the elephants who roam
I will remember
Cheetahs and jaguars who
tore me, tire me

of which we see the animals
the bulls and buffalos
I’ve had to fight and conquer
the tricksters of apes
monkeys and chimps
with superior intelligence

Where do I stand?
Among those who don’t matter
A fish, no ones favourite animal
Not colourful or creative
just one who sits at the bottom

I don’t roam like the lions
The kings with their queens
I marinate in the dirty water
full of disease and defecation
I’ll live here where I belong
